A lot of people can get turned off by the term consultant. Sounds like a middle man, an extra step that adds cost to a project that can be avoided with a little research and legwork. But, I assure you, when it comes to creating a vibrant, lush golf course, bringing in an expert that uses testing and data to back up recommendations can be an absolutely invaluable move. So just what do I do?
- Provide Vendor-Agnostic Recommendations. A lot of the turfgrass management advice you’ve been given is likely from a sales rep from some chemical company that has skin in the game. I assure you that their best interests are not yours. They look to find a way to work their solution into your problems, versus finding the best solution to optimal turfgrass. I know all the options, I’ve worked with all of them at some point. I am not beholden to any of them, if I recommend it, you can know that my analysis and expertise back it.
- Wholistic View to Course Improvement. I look at greens. I look at fairways. I look at rough. But, more than that I look at sand and water and irrigation and the whole environment. Your course is an ecosystem and all the parts work together.
- Scientific Testing combined with Industry Expertise.
